2016 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

A Message From our Principal

Dear Friends,

I would like to welcome you to our school website.  For 59 years St. George Catholic School has provided the students of our parish and community a quality Catholic education focused on the teachings of Jesus Christ.  We have graduated over 4,700 outstanding students who are now making a difference in our Church and community.  In the tradition of the Sister’s of St. Joseph who helped found and staff our school, we dedicate ourselves to being instruments of God’s peace.

At St. George you will experience a true partnership as teachers, students, parents, volunteers, parishioners, alumni and all community members work together to ensure that each child receives an education that nurtures the spirit as well as the mind.  St. George is more than a school.  We are a community dedicated to providing the very best Catholic education possible.  Our school is a vital ministry of St. George parish and all who become part of our community are given the responsibility to help build the kingdom of God right here in Baton Rouge.

I am honored to work with a staff that is committed to students’ academic excellence.  Their willingness to work with each other and parents to provide an environment of excellence through high expectations, engagement in meaningful learning experiences in a distinctly Catholic environment is second to none!

Our teaching staff is excellent and strives to educate the whole child - emotionally, socially and spiritually, in a loving, faith-filled environment. We have over 70 full and part time certificated teachers with specialists in religion, drama, library, Spanish, physical education, art, and music.  A school counselor and nurse are also a vital part of our staff. An Instructional Support/Dyslexia Lab is offered for exceptional learners.

It is a privilege to be the principal of St. George Catholic School and to experience on a daily basis the witness students, faculty, staff and parents give to the presence of God.  Please take a few minutes to learn more about our school and the terrific community we offer.  Please feel free to contact us with questions or for more information about our school.

God bless,

Jack Nelson
